A new page in my professional career started today as Jackie Cilley, a Democratic candidate in the 2012 NH gubernatorial
race annouced that I was taking on the role of Campaign Manager. It is an exciting race and I believe that Jackie has the
attributes to lead the State and also win the race to the Governor's office. Although I have not run campaigns before (besides
my own), I have been actively involved in many and find that the skill set is similar to what I needed when I worked in my
business and with other companies and organizations. Why Jackie? In 2010, I got a close
look at Jackie after the general election as she worked tirelessly to 'bring Concord" to NH citizens through an innovative
Legislative Action Alert. Now copied by many, Jackie articulated the reality in the legislature as few had done before. She
was not focused on the Governor's campaign at the time, instead she spent hours at the State House listening and following
the legislation that was being brought forward by a Tea Party, Libertarian, Republican majority party. Jackie was not interested
in her own interests; she was focused on what was best for the State. Only after a period of time, when many people approached
her and asked her to run, did she start the evaluation process which led her to announce her candidacy this February. I
support Jackie for many reasons, but primarily for her - commitment to fairness-- in education,
fiscal policy, social services and constitutional issues
- experience-- unique, part of the 99%, from the north country,
a teacher at UNH, a small business owner and parent
- understanding of the role of government---she understands the
connection between the economy, employment, the middle class, business creativity and the investments and policies of government
that enable economic growth
- Granite tough-- Jackie has the strength, will power, intellect, energy and passion
to deal with the challenges that come with a Governor's office
and last, but not least:
Jackie is a continual learner as she listens to people and keeps connected. I trust her and her judgment, which is why I am
working hard to help her get elected... So that's my update! You can
still contact me at the same location and email address found on the website... Liz Merry
